PREGNANCY YOGA Recommended to start from week 13 of your pregnancy.
Please call Anandi on 021 136 8793 or email anandi@yogatreetaupo.co.nz if you would like to join the pregnancy yoga class. If you are unable to contact Anandi before the class, please arrive at least 15 minutes before your first class starts, thanks.
Pregnancy yoga classes in Taupo are for pregnant ladies after the end of the 1st trimester. The sequencing and the postures are designed to help with the pregnancy and birth, keeping mother and baby safe. Pregnancy yoga classes are for all levels from beginners to experienced students. Some results from practicing Yoga whilst pregnant are the strengthening of the back so that back pain from carrying your baby is reduced or eliminated, the opening of the hips and groins to help with the birth, the broadening of the pelvic canal, more breath awareness, better posture to help with the extra weight of baby, increased circulation of the blood supply to the lymph system which helps reduce or eliminate toxemia, and even reduce fluid retention.
We don't advise pregnant women to join any of our other classes but to come along to this specialised class where you can be kept safe and obtain all of the benefits to help with your pregnancy and birth.
These classes are a time to relax, strengthen, build courage, to give time to yourself and your baby and enjoy the company of other pregnant women with an experienced female teacher. Pre-natal Yoga helps to empower the mother-to-be to have the most conscious pregnancy and birth experience.
Classes are small and highly individual depending on your fitness levels, stage of pregnancy and your feeling of the day. If you are a regular Ashtanga student, we recommend that you rest for the first trimestar and begin a modified Ashtanga sequence in the second trimestar which your teacher will be able to help you with with your pregnancy yoga.
Post Natal Yoga
It is advised to wait six weeks after your baby is born before starting Yoga again. We would recommend you to start back at any of our Hatha Yoga classes or our Yoga Gently class or you are most welcome to join back into the Pregnancy Yoga class until you have regained some of your strength.
